Accelerated BSN

Program Overview

Over four semesters鈥攂eginning with a summer session, followed by fall and spring semesters, and concluding with a final summer session鈥攕tudents will progress through an intensive curriculum designed to prepare them for professional nursing practice. 

Across these semesters, student learning experiences will integrate clinical practice, laboratory simulation, and coursework outside of the classroom to achieve program learning outcomes.

What you'll learn:

  • The accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing curriculum is designed for students to build on their previous educational success to obtain their BSN and begin their career in the most expedient format possible.
  • Over 4 semesters, student learning experiences will combine clinical, lab, and work outside of the classroom to achieve learning outcomes.

Graduates of the accelerated nursing BSN program are uniquely qualified to take on roles in healthcare and build upon previous career and educational success. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing notes:

Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to take the  and begin your career as a practicing nurse. The , reports that job prospects for registered nurses are expected to grow 7% from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for other occupations.

D鈥橸ouville students benefit from the close relationships that the institution has developed over the years with the region鈥檚 top-ranked hospitals and healthcare organizations. This program was developed with input from our healthcare partners to connect students to vital roles in healthcare to ensure our healthcare workforce meets the needs of our communities.

Clinical experience opportunities are available throughout Western New York and in a variety of hospital and healthcare settings.

Admission Requirements

At D'Youville, we are committed to selecting students who are academically well-rounded and committed to meeting the challenges of a high-quality education.

Admission Requirements:

  • Official transcripts documenting a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university
  • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended prior to application for admission
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • Successful completion of the following courses with a grade of C or better within the last ten (10) years of application to the program (note online lab courses are not accepted):
    • Human Anatomy with Lab (all body systems)
    • Human Physiology with Lab (all body systems)
    • Microbiology with Lab
    • Chemistry with Lab
    • General Psychology or General Sociology
    • Statistics
    • Developmental Psychology (birth to death)

Supplemental Documents (Optional):

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation that address the candidate's character and ability to complete the intensive fifteen-month course of study
  • A written summary of any community, volunteer, and health-related experiences that demonstrate diverse experiences and/or work with individuals from various backgrounds

Students who have been dismissed from another nursing program (including D'Youville's traditional undergraduate nursing program) will not be eligible to apply for admission to the accelerated program.
