Dr. Jeffrey Glodzik, Associate Professor of History in the Department of Humanities,
is one of 20 scholars from across the US that was selected to participate in the Council
of Independent Colleges鈥 seminar entitled, 鈥淐ritical Making: Knowledge and Art in
the Early Modern Globe, C. 1400鈥1660.鈥 The seminar will be held at Oberlin College鈥檚
Allen Memorial Art Museum, June 20鈥24, 2022. The seminar is designed to invigorate
teaching by enhancing faculty knowledge about the materials used in creating art and
the ideas conveyed by the art itself. As a scholar of the Renaissance, Dr. Glodzik
will benefit especially from refining his understanding of the process by which art
was created in the Renaissance world and the varied meanings the art intended to express.
He will be able to incorporate the art in his undergraduate History and Health Humanities
courses and enhance the educational experience of D'Youville students. Furthermore,
his studies at the seminar will provide a foundation for integrating art into his
research on Renaissance Rome.
