The eighth annual rankings factor in the results of their comprehensive survey of veteran and military student offerings and rates of academic achievement. The editorially-independent project evaluates the many factors that help make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, veterans, and their families.
More than 500 colleges took part in this year鈥檚 detailed survey, according to Amanda Miller, editor of Best for Vets.
鈥淲e limit our list to encourage competition and we genuinely hope this helps raise the bar for veterans on campus,鈥 she said.
The survey asks colleges and universities to document an array of services, special rules, accommodations, and financial incentives offered to students with military ties; and to describe many aspects of veteran culture on a campus. The institutions were evaluated in several categories with university culture and academic outcomes having the most weight.
鈥淪ince the Veterans Services Office was created in 2006, D鈥橸ouville has demonstrated a keen interest in and caring for the educational needs of our nation鈥檚 veterans,鈥 said Benjamin L. Randle, Jr. director of the office.
鈥淲e have developed an environment and support system that enables the military affiliated students and their dependents to succeed.鈥
D鈥橸ouville today enrolls more than 600 veterans and dependents.
