BUFFALO, NEW YORK 鈥 Today D鈥橸ouville University has announced the appointment of Katie Mallinson as the Executive Director for the Kavinoky Theatre. This new role comes in addition to her current position as the University鈥檚 Program Director for the Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Theater Arts 鈥 the first acting and performance MFA in Western New York. In tandem, Kavinoky Theatre has announced the start of its 44th season beginning on September 8, 2023, with four performances planned through June 16, 2024.

鈥淲e are delighted to have Katie Mallinson lead the Kavinoky Theatre into a successful and entertaining future,鈥 says D鈥橸ouville University President Lorrie Clemo, Ph.D. 鈥淣ot only is the Kavinoky Theatre a cultural jewel for the West Side Community, but also a performing arts anchor in the City of Buffalo. The vision and talent that Katie Mallinson showcases as an artistic leader is well known and I am confident that these traits will certainly advance the already stellar performances offered within the Theatre.鈥

鈥淚 am honored to take on this new responsibility with the D鈥橸ouville University Kavinoky Theatre,鈥 says Mallinson. 鈥淚 believe that art is fundamental to personal, social, economic, and civic health. The Kavinoky is a theatrical cornerstone in Western New York with a treasured history of creating memorable, moving experiences for audiences. I鈥檓 excited to continue this tradition and, with the integration of the University鈥檚 MFA program, evolve programming through dynamic distinctive storytelling that expands our creative community to ensure a bright future for the industry.鈥
