Billy Morris Signed to Orleans Firebirds

D鈥橸ouville University baseball standout Billy Morris is taking his talents to one of the most elite summer leagues in the country. After a strong showing with the Forest City Owls in the Coastal Plain League, Morris has officially been called up to join the Orleans Firebirds of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League 鈥 a dream come true for many aspiring professional players.

Morris, a rising senior and cornerstone of the Saints鈥 infield, has been turning heads all summer with his consistent bat, steady glove, and dominating control on the mound. In his second year with the Forest City Owls, he鈥檚 appeared in 20 games with 70 at bats, 16 hits, 12 runs batted in and only one strikeout. His standout performances earned him an opportunity few college athletes receive: an invitation to play against the best of the best.

鈥淚鈥檓 incredibly grateful for this opportunity,鈥 said Morris. 鈥淕etting the call to play in the Cape Cod League is a dream come true. It鈥檚 a chance to compete with and against some of the best college players in the nation, and I鈥檓 honored to represent D鈥橸ouville on this stage.鈥

The Cape Cod League has long been a pipeline to Major League Baseball, with scouts lining the fences of every game. Morris will now suit up for the Orleans Firebirds, joining a roster of top-tier collegiate players from across the country. He鈥檒l be the first player to represent D鈥橸ouville University in the Cape Cod Baseball league and solidify his status as one of the program鈥檚 rising stars.

鈥淏illy has worked for this every step of the way,鈥 said D鈥橸ouville Head Baseball Coach Kyle McLain. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an awesome opportunity for Billy to be able to play in the Cape Cod League against some of the best college players in the country. We鈥檙e extremely proud of the work he鈥檚 put in so far to get this opportunity with the Orleans Firebirds.鈥

The move not only highlights Morris鈥 individual growth but also serves as a major milestone for D鈥橸ouville鈥檚 baseball program, which continues to gain momentum at the Division II level.

鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to learning as much as I can both on and off the field,鈥 said Morris. 鈥淔acing top-tier competition will push me to grow, and I plan to bring that experience and confidence back to D鈥橸ouville for my senior season. This opportunity will help me become a better leader and a better teammate.鈥

With this next chapter unfolding, Morris carries the pride of Buffalo and D鈥橸ouville University to one of the most storied diamonds in collegiate baseball 鈥 and he鈥檚 just getting started.
