Biography

Professor Lis is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Sports & Fitness Management and is finishing her PhD in Sport Management from Troy University in May 2026. She earned a Master's degree in Sports Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Canisius University.

Professor Lis serves on multiple on-campus committees, and is involved in curriculum revision for the Sports & Fitness Management undergraduate program. Her professional experience spans across multiple areas, including the Buffalo Bills, a local nonprofit called The Arc Erie County, the 2022 NCAA March Madness Tournament, and Canisius University Division I Athletics.

As the recipient of the COSMA Research Grant, Professor Lis presented her doctoral dissertation at the national COSMA Conference in 2026.

Biography

Dr. Lueck is an Associate Professor and teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of his courses include: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Financial Management, Corporate Finance, and Money and Banking. Dr. Lueck has also served as a master thesis committee member for students completing the master of science in international business program at D’Youville University. He has also developed four online courses for D’Youville University in the areas of accounting and finance.

Dr. Lueck also earned certificates in applied econometrics and economics of strategy and managerial decision making. He has used various statistical and econometric software programs including Eviews, IBM Statistical Program for the Social Sciences, and IBM Arc Maps Geographical Information Systems.

He has presented at various national and regional conferences including but not limited to the Institute of Finance and Management, the Business Research Consortium of Western New York, and the International Association of Applied Business Research.

Dr. Elmer B. Fos is a Clinical Assistant Professor at ��ӰԺ in the Business Department of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to both healthcare administration and business education.

Dr. Fos holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Services Research and a Master’s in Health Administration, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southeastern Philippines and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (major in Accounting) from Holy Cross of Davao College in the Philippines.

While pursuing his graduate studies, Dr. Fos worked with Duke University Health System’s primary and urgent care clinics, gaining hands-on experience in healthcare operations and administration. Before moving to the United States, he served as an accounting instructor at Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines, where he developed his passion for teaching and mentoring students.

Dr. Fos is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Virginia. His professional accounting background includes roles as an internal auditor and management accountant at Jardine Davies, Inc., an affiliate of the multinational corporation Jardine Matheson. This organization provides insurance, transportation, trading, and manufacturing services across the Asia Pacific region.

Dr. Fos brings a practical, real-world perspective to the classroom, drawing from his diverse experience in healthcare administration, corporate accounting, and multinational business operations.

The BS Sport and Fitness Management program prepares individuals to apply business, coaching, and physical education principles to the organization, administration and management of athletic programs and teams, fitness/rehabilitation facilities and health clubs, sport recreation services, and related services.

Develop a broad range of business skills, from communications and writing to problem-solving and people management, as you prepare for a career as an entrepreneur or business manager. In our IACBE-accredited accredited program, you’ll combine classroom instruction with real-world internship experiences.

The Economics of Sports and Fitness

This course is designed to use economic analysis to study a wide variety of issues affecting the sport and fitness industries. Topics examined include: optimal ticket pricing strategies; the effects of free agency and collective bargaining processes on player salaries; the effects of league-wide polices such as revenue-sharing, salary caps, and luxury taxes on team financial performance and on league competitive balance, and; the impacts and rationales for government subsidization of stadiums. Both professional and college sports are examined.
Sport Psychology

This course reviews contemporary research and theories in sport psychology. Students will explore the interaction between athletic and team performance and psychological practices related to social, cognitive and affective factors. Students will assess through role play and simulations the impact of psychology and psychological approaches athlete and team dynamics, communication, and training. Students will demonstrate strategies that promote a growth mindset among athletes and their network to optimize performance.
Sports Law

This course emphasizes the basic principles of law to realistic sports management situations. A foundation of knowledge related specifically to sports law including business structures and legal authority, negligence, contracts, and antitrust will be addressed.

Admissions Requirements

Incoming freshman may apply for this program as with the following admissions standards:

1. Combined SAT scores of at least 1,080 (math and verbal) or 21 ACT (Test scores are optional)

2. A high school average of at least 85 percent

Students must also demonstrate successful completion of two years of mathematics. Although D’Youville does not mandate that letters of recommendation or a letter of intent to study a specific discipline be included with the application, students applying to the BS Sport and Fitness Management/MBA dual degree program are strongly advised to include these documents with their application.

Transfer students (internal and external) may apply for this program with the following admissions standards:

A minimum GPA of 2.5.
Transfer students are also strongly advised to include letters of recommendation and a letter of intent with their application.
Students with a GPA of lower than 2.5 may be considered for conditional acceptance on an individual basis. Conditionally accepted students can matriculate after completing four undergraduate or graduate courses, as appropriate, with a grade of B or better.
Students in the 4-year B.S. Sport and Fitness Management program who are considering applying for transfer to this program are encouraged to talk to their academic advisor before the start of their 6th semester of full-time study.

The BS/MBA program combines the 4-year, in-person, BS Sport and Fitness Management degree with the current online MBA degree. This combined 5-year degree allows students to complete both degrees in a total of 11 semesters, which includes one summer semester. At the end of 4 years students will have completed 3 graduate level MBA courses which will fulfill the requirement of taking three upper level management electives in the Baccalaureate level program. These 3 graduate level MBA courses count toward the BS degree requirements as well as toward the MBA degree requirements (i.e., they double count).

Admission Requirements

First Time in College Students

Official High School Transcripts: An overall weighted GPA of 80 or higher, with successful completion of high school graduation requirements, including three years each of Mathematics, History, English, and Science.

Transfer Students

Official Transcripts: Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities are required.
Minimum GPA Requirement: A cumulative GPA of 2.5.
